Immobilizer system
The immobilizer system protects your vehicle from theft. If an improperly coded key or other device is used, the vehicle’s power system is disabled.
When you place the EV button in the POWER ON position, the immobilizer system indicator should come on briefly and then go off. If the indicator starts to blink, the system does not recognize the coding of the key.
Place the EV button in the OFF position, then place the EV button in the POWER ON position again.
If the system repeatedly does not recognize the key’s coding, contact an authorized Kia dealer or service partner.
Do not attempt to alter or add other devices to this system, as this could result in electrical problems that may render your vehicle inoperable.
Deactivating the immobilizer system
Turn the EV button to the POWER ON position.
Activating the immobilizer system
Change the EV button to the OFF position. The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid smart key for your vehicle, the vehicle will not start.
When starting the vehicle, do not use the key with other immobilizer keys around. Otherwise, the vehicle may not start or may stop soon after it starts. Keep each key separate to avoid a malfunction.
If you need additional keys or lose your keys, Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer or service partner.
