  1. Keep hands on steering wheel

If you remove your hands from the steering wheel for a few seconds, a warning message appears and an audible warning sounds in two stages:

  • First stage: Warning message

  • Second stage: Warning message (red steering wheel) and audible warning

CAUTION

  • If Emergency Stop (ES) is applied and the driver continues to take hands off the steering wheel, the Emergency Stop will be activated. For more information, refer to the Emergency Stop (ES) section in this chapter.

  • After the vehicle comes to a stop due to Emergency Stop and the Emergency Stop is released, the vehicle must be restarted to activate Highway Driving Assist again.

  • When an in-cabin camera is equipped, Highway Driving Assist operation is restricted if the driver’s condition cannot be detected.

  1. Highway Driving Assist deactivated

If you do not return your hands to the steering wheel after the hands-off warning message appears, Highway Driving Assist is automatically canceled.
