To release Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) automatically

Vehicle is in P (Park)
With the vehicle is in DRIVE READY (
indicator on) depress the brake pedal and shift out of P (Park) to R (Reverse) or D (Drive). -
Gear in N (Neutral)
With the vehicle is in DRIVE READY (
indicator on) depress the brake pedal and shift out of N (Neutral) to R (Reverse) or D (Drive). -
Satisfy the following conditions:

Ensure seat belts are fastened and the doors, bonnet and trunk are closed.

With the vehicle is in DRIVE READY (
indicator on), depress the brake pedal and shift out of P (Park) to R (Reverse), or D (Drive). -
Depress the accelerator pedal.

Make sure the parking brake warning light
goes off.

Never allow a passenger, children, or animal to touch the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).

Do not input any other objects around the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). It may be operated unintentionally.

Do not drive your vehicle with the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) applied. It may cause excessive brake pad and brake rotor wear.

Whenever leaving the vehicle or parking, make sure the vehicle is shifted to P (Park), then apply the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). Block the tyres if necessary.

Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) may not be released because it can freeze in winter. Do not use Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) and shift to P (Park), block the tyres, and park the vehicle on the flat and safe road. If the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is applied when you shift to P (Park), release AUTO HOLD and Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), and park the vehicle with the tyres blocked.

When driving with the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) applied, brake system may be overheated, brake lines may be worn, and the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) may be damaged.

A click or electric brake motor whine sound may be heard whilst operating or releasing the A click or electric brake motor whine sound may be heard whilst operating or releasing the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).

If you hand over the vehicle to other people, make sure they understand how to use the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) for safety.

When the battery charge is not sufficient, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) may not be applied or released. In this case, connect to the 12V auxiliary battery.

If the parking brake warning light (
) is still on even though the EPB has been released, have the system inspected by an authorised Kia dealer/service partner. -
Do not drive your vehicle with Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) applied. It may cause excessive brake pad and brake rotor wear.

You can engage Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) even though the EV button is in the OFF position (only if battery power is available), but you cannot release it.

Depress the brake pedal and release the parking brake manually with the EPB switch before you drive downhill or when backing up.
