Lighting functions

Battery saver function

The purpose of this feature is to prevent the battery from being discharged.

The system automatically shuts off the parking lights after the engine is off and the driver's door is opened.

However, the position lamps stay ON even when the driver-side door is opened if the light switch is operated after the engine is turned off.

If necessary, to keep the lamps on turn the position lamps OFF and ON again using the headlamp switch on the steering column after the engine is turned off.

CAUTION

To prevent the battery from being discharged, do not leave the headlight and interior light on for a prolonged time whilst the engine is not running.

Headlamp escort function

Operation

  • The headlamps remain on for approximately 5 minutes.

  • If the driver's door is opened and closed, the headlamps turn off after 15 seconds.

  • To turn the headlamps OFF:

    • Press the lock button on the key 2 times

    • Turn the headlamp switch to OFF position

Operating condition(s)

  • The vehicle is in ACC or OFF position with the headlamps ON

Daytime Running Light (DRL)

The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) can make it easier for others to see the front of your vehicle during the day, especially after dawn and before sunset. The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) should be illuminated whenever you are driving during daylight hours. The DRL system will be ON when the headlamp stalk is in the OFF or the AUTO Position (when daylight is detected) and the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is released.

Non-operating condition(s)

  • When engine is not started

  • When the engine is started with the parking brake applied (before driving)

  • When the headlights are on

    • However, the headlights are turned on automatically at night in the AUTO position of the light switch.

  • When the front fog light is on (if equipped)

NOTICE

If necessary, to keep the position lamp on when the vehicle is turned off, perform the following:

  • Open the driver’s side door.

  • Turn the position lamp ON.

NOTICE
  • Traffic Change (For Europe)

The low beam light distribution is asymmetric. If you go abroad to a country with opposite traffic direction, this asymmetric part will dazzle oncoming car driver. To prevent dazzle, ECE regulation demand several technical solutions (ex. automatic change system, adhesive sheet, down aiming). These headlamps are designed not to dazzle opposite drivers. So, you need not change your headlamps in a country with opposite traffic direction.

  • You can disable the daytime running lights by engaging the brakes with the headlights on and turning off the headlights.
