Activating the immobilizer system
Operation
Change the EV button to the OFF position. The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid smart key for your vehicle, the vehicle will not start.
In order to prevent theft of your vehicle, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a customer unique password and should be kept confidential. Do not leave this number anywhere in your vehicle.
-
Make sure not to leave the key inside the vehicle when locking the vehicle door.
-
When starting the vehicle with two keys provided on the same key ring at the same time, the vehicle may not start due to a communication failure, so start the vehicle with each key separated.
-
When you use a duplicate key, the vehicle will not start.
-
Make sure not to drop or impact on the key, as it may damage the electronics equipped in the key and the vehicle may not start.
-
Do not mount metallic accessories around the key or the start button. As these products may interfere with radio waves transmitted to the inside of the start button when starting the vehicle, the vehicle may not start.
-
If you need additional keys or lose your keys, you can register a new key. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner because you need to use the registered device.
-
Do not install other wireless starters on a vehicle equipped with the immobilizer system. When installed, it may cause vehicle system failure and the vehicle anti-theft function may not work.
-
When starting the vehicle, do not use the key with other immobilizer keys around. Otherwise the vehicle may not start or may stop soon after it starts. Keep each key separately in order to avoid a starting malfunction.
