Immobiliser system

The system is designed in such a way that it makes vehicle theft difficult if its circuit and battery connection is uninterrupted. If an improperly coded key or other device is used, the vehicle’s power system is disabled.

When you place the EV button in the POWER ON position, the immobiliser system indicator should come on briefly and then go off. If the indicator starts to blink, the system does not recognise the coding of the key.

Place the EV button in the OFF position, then place the EV button in the POWER ON position again.

If the system repeatedly does not recognise the key’s coding, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

Do not attempt to alter or add other devices to this system, as this could result in electrical problems that may render your vehicle inoperable.

Deactivating the immobiliser system

To deactivate the immobiliser system, press the EV button to the OFF position.

Activating the immobiliser system

To activate the immobiliser system, press the EV button to the ON position. The immobiliser system activates automatically. Without a valid smart key for your vehicle, the vehicle will not start.

NOTE

When starting the vehicle, do not use the key with other immobiliser keys around. Otherwise, the vehicle may not start or may stop soon after it starts. Keep each key separate to avoid a malfunction.

If you need additional keys or lose your keys, Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

  • Do not change, alter or adjust the immobiliser system because it could cause the immobiliser system to malfunction. In this case, have the system serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

  • Malfunctions caused by improper alterations, adjustments or modifications to the immobiliser system are not covered by your vehicle manufacturer warranty.

  • Do not attempt to alter this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems could result that may make your vehicle inoperable.
