If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, or if the related fuse has been replaced or disconnected, for the power liftgate to operate normally, reset the power liftgate as follow:

1. Make sure the gear is shifted to P (Park) position.

2. Press the power liftgate open button to open the power liftgate.

3. While pressing the liftgate close button, press the liftgate handle switch for more than 3 seconds. (the buzzer will sound)

4. Close the liftgate manually.

5. Press the power liftgate open button on the outside of the vehicle.

6. The liftgate will open and the chime will sound.

7. If the liftgate is stopped before it is fully open, resetting will not proceed. Wait until the tailgate is open fully and stopped.

If the power liftgate does not work properly after the above procedure, have the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
