Smart regeneration system operation

  • Pull and hold the right side () of the paddle shifter for approximately more than 1 second to activate smart regeneration system.

AUTO indicator will appear on the instrument cluster.

  • Pull and hold the right side () of the paddle shifter again for approximately more than 1 second to deactivate smart regeneration system.

AUTO indicator will disappear on the instrument cluster.

  • The regenerative braking level can be adjusted based on the driver's deceleration style.

Operating condition(s)

  • When the vehicle speed is above approximately 6 mph (10 km/h)

  • The road gradient changes

  • Distance from the vehicle ahead reduces or increases

  • Speed of the vehicle ahead reduces or increases

  • Taking a left or right turn in the crossroads (for GT)

  • Approaching a roundabout (for GT)

Non-operating condition(s)

  • When the vehicle speed is under approximately 6 mph (10 km/h)

  • The vehicle is in N (Neutral), R (Reverse) or P (Park).

  • Smart Cruise Control is operating.

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is operating.

WARNING
  • Smart regeneration system which automatically controls the regenerative braking level when coasting is only a supplemental system for the driver's convenience. Do not solely rely on this system to stop the vehicle. The system can neither completely stop the vehicle in all situations nor avoid all collisions. The brake control may be insufficient depending on the speed of a vehicle ahead when a vehicle ahead suddenly stops, a vehicle cuts in front suddenly or there is a steep slope. Always look ahead cautiously to prevent unexpected and sudden situations from occurring.

  • When smart regeneration system is canceling automatically, adjust the vehicle speed by depressing the accelerator or brake pedal according to the road conditions ahead.

NOTICE
  • If the front radar doesn't recognize a vehicle ahead, AUTO indicator will be displayed in white. For GT, in this case, the vehicle will decelerate with regenerative braking level 0.

  • If the front radar recognizes a vehicle ahead, AUTO indicator will be displayed in blue. In this case, the vehicle will decelerate automatically depending on the distance and speed of the vehicle ahead, and the regenerative braking level indicated with arrow symbol.

  • The current regenerative braking level is maintained when the brake pedal is depressed while the system is active. However, the system is temporarily deactivated when the accelerator pedal is depressed.

  • The infotainment system may change after software updates. For more information, refer to the user's manual provided in the infotainment system and the quick reference guide.
