Precautions
-
Do not use the Tire Mobility Kit to repair punctures in the tire sidewalls. This can result in an accident due to tire failure.
-
Have your tire repaired as soon as possible. The tire may loose air pressure at any time after inflating with the Tire Mobility Kit.
-
Do not use the TMK if a tire is severely damaged by driving run flat or with insufficient air pressure. Only punctured areas located within the tread region of the tire can be sealed using the TMK.
-
Do not use the Tire sealant after the sealant has expired (i.e. past the expiration date on the sealant container). This can increase the risk of tire failure.
-
Keep the sealant away from children.
-
Be careful not to get the sealant in your eyes or swallow it.
-
Do not leave your vehicle running in a poorly ventilated area for extended periods of time. Carbon monoxide poisoning and suffocation can occur.
-
Do not drive the vehicle if the tire pressure is below 29 psi (200 kPa). This may cause accidents.
-
Do not operate the compressor for more than 10 minutes; it may cause overheating and damage.
-
The tire inflation pressure must be inflated to the proper pressure (Refer to Tires and wheels ). If it is not, do not continue driving. Call for road side service or towing.
-
Pay attention when connecting the connector to the 12V battery; sparks may occur.
-
Before using the TMK, read the instructions attached to the sealant bottle carefully. Remove the speed limit label from the sealant bottle and attach it to a visible location to comply with the speed limit during driving.
-
When two or more tires are flat, do not use the tire mobility kit because the supported one sealant of Tire Mobility Kit is only used for one flat tire.
-
If the sealant injection hose is not fully connected to the tire valve, the sealant may flow back and block the valve.
-
Connecting the (+) terminal and (-) terminal the on wrong sides may cause damage to the 12V battery and the TMK. Connect the cables according to the specified order.
-
When disconnecting the cables, always disconnect the (-) terminal (black cable) from the battery first.
-
For your safety, do not exceed a driving speed of approximately 80 km/h. If abnormal vibrations or noise occur during driving, reduce speed, park in a safe location, and Call for road side service or towing to an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
-
When you use the Tire Mobility Kit, the wheel may be stained by sealant. Therefore, remove the wheel stained by sealant and have the vehicle inspected at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
-
If the inflation pressure is not maintained, drive the vehicle a second time, refer to Distributing the sealant . Then repeat steps 1 to 4.
-
Use of the TMK may be ineffectual for tire damage larger than approximately 4 mm (0.16 inches).
-
We recommend that you contact a professional workshop if the tire cannot be made roadworthy with the Tire Mobility Kit.
-
Driving the vehicle after injecting the sealant into the tire helps evenly spread the sealant on the puncture area as the vehicle vibrates during driving.
-
The Tire Mobility Kit is not designed or intended as a permanent tire repair method and is to be used for one tire only.
-
The sealant seals the puncture area and maintains the tire pressure with vibrations and slight heat generated by the tire.
-
After ensuring that the tire is properly sealed, you can drive cautiously on the tire (for a distance of up to 200 km (120 miles)) at maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) in order to reach a service station or a tire dealer to have the tire replaced.
-
Avoid abrupt steering or other driving maneuvers if the vehicle is heavily loaded or if a trailer is in use. For more details, refer to Safe use of Tire Mobility Kit .
-
Take out the remover tool in the Tire Mobility Kit. Insert the tool to the hole and pull out the wheel cover.
-
When reinstalling the repaired or replaced tire and wheel on the vehicle, tighten the wheel lug nut to 11~13 kgf·m (79~94 lbf·ft).
