Characteristics of electric vehicles
Electric vehicles charge and store electrical energy in a high voltage battery for power. This method of propulsion eliminates tailpipe emissions.
Electric vehicles also have a high performance electric motor. Compared to many internal combustion vehicles, vehicle noise and vibrations when driving are minimised.
When you slow down or drive downhill, regenerative braking charges the high voltage battery. Regenerative braking reduces energy loss and can increase the distance to empty.
When the battery charge is not sufficient, AC charge (L2-Normal), DC charge, and Trickle charge (L1-Trickle) are available. For more information, refer to Charge types for electric vehicle.
Regenerative braking
Regenerative braking converts kinetic energy to electrical energy when the vehicle is slowing down or braking to charge the high voltage battery. Decelerating applies torque in the opposite direction to generate braking force and electrical energy.
