|
The following message will appear when the smart regeneration system is not functioning normally.
The system will be canceled and (
) on the instrument cluster will disappear and instead display regenerative braking level.
Check for foreign substances on the front radar. Remove any dirt, snow, or debris that could interfere with the radar sensors.
If the system still does not operate normally, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Limitations of smart regeneration system (Linked to Navigation Route)
-
Smart Cruise Control is operating.
-
SNOW mode is activated.
-
Downhill Brake Control (DBC) is activated.

When you drive around a curve, the system might not detect the vehicle ahead in your lane. The regenerative braking level decreases automatically, making you feel that the vehicle is accelerating. If the system suddenly recognizes the vehicle ahead, the regenerative braking level increases automatically, making you feel that the vehicle is decelerating. Maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, engage the brake pedal to reduce your speed. The smart regeneration system may recognize a vehicle in an adjacent lane when driving on a curved road. In this case, the system increases the braking level and slow the vehicle. Always pay attention to the road and conditions while driving. If necessary, engage the brake pedal to reduce your speed and maintain a safe braking distance. Also, when necessary, engage the accelerator pedal to prevent the system from decelerating your vehicle unnecessarily. Always check the traffic conditions around the vehicle. |

When you drive uphill or downhill, the system might not detect the vehicle ahead in your lane. |

When a vehicle ahead changes into your lane, the smart regeneration system might not immediately detect it, especially if it changes lanes abruptly. In this case, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, engage the brake pedal to reduce your speed. |

The sensor cannot recognize some vehicles in your lane, including:
The sensor cannot correctly recognize a vehicle ahead in any of the following circumstances:
Engage the brake pedal or accelerator pedal if necessary. |
When using smart regeneration system, take the following precautions:
-
In an emergency, always apply the brakes to stop the vehicle.
-
Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, considering road conditions and vehicle speed. A short following distance at high speed may lead to a serious collision.
-
Always keep sufficient braking distance and decelerate by applying the brake pedal when necessary.
-
Smart regeneration system uses radar signals to detect and monitor vehicles ahead. It is not designed to detect oncoming vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, or small wheeled objects such as luggage bags, shopping carts, or strollers.
-
The system may experience delays in response to vehicles that change lanes frequently or may respond to vehicles in adjacent lanes. Always drive attentively and be prepared for unexpected situations.
-
Smart regeneration system may not recognize complex driving scenarios. Continuously monitor road conditions and adjust your vehicle’s speed as needed.
Smart regeneration system may not operate temporarily due to:
-
Electrical interference
-
Modification of the suspension
-
Differences in tire wear or pressure
-
Installation of different type of tires
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
-
This device may not cause harmful interference, and
-
this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
