Warning lights
Make sure that all warning lights are OFF after starting the engine. If any light is still ON, this indicates a situation that needs attention.
Air bag Warning Light (if equipped)

Once you set the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.

It appears for approximately 6 seconds and then goes off.

When there is a malfunction with the SRS.

Seat Belt Warning Light
This warning light informs the driver that the seat belt is not fastened.

Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light

Once you set the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.

It appears for approximately 3 seconds

It remains on if the parking brake is applied.

When the parking brake is applied.

When the brake fluid level in the reservoir is low.

If the warning light appears with the parking brake released, it indicates the brake fluid level in reservoir is low.

Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.

With the engine stopped, check the brake fluid level immediately and add fluid as required (For more details, refer to More Details). Then check all brake components for fluid leaks. If any leak on the brake system is still found, the warning light remains on, or the brakes do not operate properly, do not drive the vehicle.

Your vehicle is equipped with dualdiagonal braking systems. This means you still have braking on two wheels even if one of the dual systems should fail.
With only one of the dual systems working, more than normal pedal travel and greater pedal pressure are required to stop the vehicle.
Also, the vehicle will not stop in as short a distance with only a portion of the brake system working.
If the brakes fail while you are driving, shift to a lower gear for additional engine braking and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light
Driving the vehicle with a warning light ON is dangerous. If the Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light appears with the parking brake released, it indicates that the brake fluid level is low.

Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light
When both ABS and Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Lights are on, the brake system will not work normally and you may experience an unexpected and dangerous situation during sudden braking.
In this case, avoid high speed driving and abrupt braking.

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light
When the ABS Warning Light is on or both ABS and Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Lights are on, the speedometer, odometer, or tripmeter may not work. Also, the MDPS Warning Light may appear and the steering effort may increase or decrease.

Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) Warning Light

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)

Driving with the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on may cause damage to the emission control systems which could effect drivability and/or fuel economy.

If the enhanced engine protection system becomes activated due to lack of engine oil, engine power will be limited. If such condition continues repeatedly, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp will appear. (for Smartstream T-GDi engine)
Gasoline Engine
If the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) appears, potential catalytic converter damage is possible which could result in loss of engine power.

Charging System Warning Light

Once you set the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.

It remains on until the engine is started.

When there is a malfunction with either the alternator or electrical charging system.

Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.

Turn the engine off and check the alternator drive belt for looseness or breakage.

Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light

Once you set the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.

It remains on until the engine is started.

When the engine oil pressure is low.
-
Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.

Turn the engine off and check the engine oil level (For more details, refer to More Details). If the level is low, add oil as required.

If the warning light remains on after adding oil or if oil is not available, have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop as soon as possible. Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner. Continued driving with the warning light on may cause engine failure.
When engine oil pressure decreases due to insufficient engine oil, etc., the Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light will appear. In addition, the enhanced engine protection system which limits engine power will be activated. If the engine oil pressure is restored, the Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light and the enhanced engine protection system will turn off. (for Smartstream T-GDi engine)
Engine Oil Level Warning Light (if equipped)
The engine oil level warning light appears when the engine oil level should be checked.
If the warning light comes on, check the engine oil level as soon as possible and add engine oil as required.
Slowly pour the recommended oil little by little into a funnel. (Oil refill capacity : Approximately 0.6 L ~ 1.0 L)
Use only the specified engine oil. (Refer to More Details.)
Do not overfill the engine oil to ensure the oil level is not above F mark on the dipstick.

If you travel approximately 50 km after adding the engine oil, the warning light will go off.
-
Cycle the ignition from OFF to ON 3 times within 10 seconds, the warning light will go off immediately. However, when you turn off the warning light without adding the engine oil, the light will come on again after traveling approximately 50 km.
If the light comes on continuously after adding the engine oil and traveling approximately 50 km, have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop as soon as possible. Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner. Even if this light does not come on after the engine has started, the engine oil should be checked and supplied periodically.
Overspeed warning light (if equipped)

When you drive the vehicle more than 120 km/h.

This is to prevent you from driving your vehicle with overspeed.

The overspeed warning chime also sound for approximately 5 seconds.
Low Fuel Level Warning Light
When the fuel tank is nearly empty.
Add fuel as soon as possible.
Low Fuel Level
Driving with the Low Fuel Level warning light on or with the fuel level below “0 or E” can cause the engine to misfire and damage the catalytic converter. (if equipped)
Low Tire Pressure Warning Light (if equipped)

Once you set the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to the ON position.

When one or more of your tires are significantly underinflated.

When there is a malfunction with the TPMS.

Safe Stopping

The TPMS cannot alert you to severe and sudden tire damage caused by external factors.

If you notice any vehicle instability, immediately take your foot off the accelerator pedal, apply the brakes gradually with light force, and slowly move to a safe position off the road.
Forward Safety Warning Light (if equipped)

When the ignition switch is in the ON position. It illuminates for about 3 seconds and then goes off.

Yellow: When Forward Safety of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is deselected, disabled, or a malfunction is detected.
If the yellow warning light remains on after the sensor has been uncovered or unblocked when Forward Safety is set, Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

Red: When Forward Safety or Forward Cross-Traffic Safety function is operating.

Master Warning Light (if equipped)

This warning light informs the driver the following situations

Exhaust System (GPF) Warning Light (Gasoline Engine) (if equipped)

When there is a malfunction with Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) system.

When this warning light appears, it may turn off after driving the vehicle:

The vehicle should be driven for more than 30 minutes at a speed of 80 km/h (50 mph) and faster.

Ensure the following conditions are all met: safe road conditions, transmission 3rd gear or above, and engine speed of 1,500 - 4,000 rpm.

If this warning light blinks in spite of the procedure (at this time the LCD warning message will be displayed), have the GPF system checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Gasoline Engine with GPF (if equipped)
If you continue to drive with the GPF warning light blinking for a long time, the GPF system can be damaged and fuel consumption can worsen.
Door Ajar Warning Light (if equipped)
When a door is not closed securely.
Tailgate Open Warning Light (if equipped)
When the tailgate is not closed securely.
Washer Fluid Warning Light (if equipped)

When the washer fluid level in the reservoir is nearly empty.
In this case, you should refill the washer fluid.
LED Headlamp Warning Light (if equipped)

When there is a malfunction with the LED headlamp.

LED Headlamp Warning Light
Continuous driving with the LED Headlamp Warning Light on can reduce LED headlamp (low beam) life.
Icy Road Warning Light
This warning light is to warn the driver the road may be icy.
When the following conditions occur, the warning light (including Outside Temperature Gauge) blinks and then appears, and a warning chime sounds once.

The temperature on the Outside Temperature Gauge is below approximately 4 °C (39 °F).
If the icy road warning light appears while driving, you should drive more attentively and safely, refraining from over-speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking or sharp turning, etc.
