  • Push the charging door open/close button on the lower instrument panel or press the rear center edge of the charging door.

  • Push the charging door close button located in the inner part of the charging door.

NOTE

Do not leave the vehicle with the charging door open. An open charging door might indicate that the vehicle door is unlocked, leaving your vehicle subject to theft.

WARNING

The charging door opens to the right. Check the surrounding while the charging door is open or close. Use care when opening and closing the charging door to avoid your head or limbs from being hit or entrapped by the charging door.

CAUTION

To prevent damaging the charging door and causing other accidents, do not hold the hinge.

NOTE
  • The charging door automatically closes when:

    • You disconnect the charging connector

    • You open the charging door but don’t connect the charging connector within approximately 2 minutes

    • The gear is not in P (Park)

  • After replacing the 12V battery, open and close the charging door to make sure that the charging door’s automatic opening mechanism is functioning properly.

For more information, refer to Charging door.

NOTE
  • If the charging door does not open because ice has formed around it, tap lightly or push on the door to break the ice and release the door. If necessary, use hand temperature to melt down the ice or move the vehicle to a warm place and allow the ice to melt. Do not pry on the charging door or use unauthorized tools to open the charging door. If you open it by force, the charging door may be damaged.

  • If the charging door does not open under certain conditions, such as an electrical malfunction, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

  • Make sure that the charging door is closed before driving the vehicle. If the charging door is open, mechanical parts of the charging door can be damaged.

  • After closing the charging door, make sure that the warning light is off.

  • After you finish charging the vehicle, completely close the charging inlet cover. If the charging door is closed and the charging inlet cover is closed improperly, the charging door does not close fully or it reopens, which can damage the charging door.

  • Do not pry on the charging door while the charging door is opening. The charging door might stop moving, and the charging door’s electrical mechanism and related parts can be severely damaged.

  • While washing the vehicle, do not spray high pressure water directly to the charging door. The high pressure can damage the charging door.
