Closing the twin swing tailgate

If the tailgate was opened beyond 95 degrees, follow the instructions below to close them:

  • Close the tailgate slowly to ensure the locking lever engages securely.

  • Close the right tailgate first, followed by the left tailgate, in reverse order of opening.

CAUTION

  • When closing the tailgate, be careful not to get clothing or body parts caught between the tailgate and vehicle.

  • If the tailgate doesn’t close completely due to internal air pressure, press firmly with both hands to close.

WARNING

  • Do not drive the vehicle with the twin swing tailgate open or with items protruding.

    This poses a risk to other vehicles and may cause parts to be damaged from shaking cargo.

  • Placing cargo near the locking area, particularly around the locking lever, may result in damage or system failure.

  • Do not open or close both left and right tailgate at the same time. Simultaneous operation may damage the upper panel of the tailgate.

    Always open the right tailgate after fully opening the left, and close the right tailgate before closing the left.

  • Always check surroundings before opening or closing the tailgate from inside or outside the vehicle.

    Be especially cautious to avoid head, hand, or foot injuries from impact or entrapment.
