If there is heavy snow or ice on the windscreen, defrost the windscreen for approximately 10 minutes, or until the snow and ice are removed, before operating the windscreen wipers. Operating the wipers and washers without clearing the snow or ice may damage the wiper and washer system.
When driving on snowy roads, the windscreen wipers may stop due to snow buildup on the windscreen. This is normal and not a malfunction. It is a safety feature designed to prevent vehicle accidents and avoid damage to the wiper motor caused by overloading. If the wipers stop, remove any snow accumulated at the top or bottom of the windscreen before operating them again.
