Precautions for the portable charger: In-Cable Control Box (ICCB)

  • Do not try to repair, disassemble, or adjust the portable charger.

  • Do not use an extension cord or adapter.

  • Stop using the portable charger immediately if it fails.

  • Do not touch the plug or charging connector with wet hands.

  • Do not touch the terminal part of the AC charging connector or the AC charging inlet on the vehicle.

  • Do not use the portable charging cable if it is worn out, damaged, or has exposed wires.

  • If the In-Cable Control Box (ICCB) case or the AC charging connector is damaged, cracked, or has exposed wires, do not use the portable charger.

  • Do not let children operate or touch the portable charger.

  • Keep the charging connector and plug terminal free of foreign substances.

  • Do not pull, twist, bend, or step on the cable or cord.

  • Do not charge the vehicle when there is lightning.

  • Do not place objects that can generate high temperatures near the charger while charging the vehicle.

  • Charging with a worn out or damaged household electric outlet can cause electric shock. If you are unsure about the condition of a household electric outlet, have it inspected by a licensed electrician.

  • Stop using the portable charger immediately if the household electric outlet or any components overheat or if you smell something burning.

  • During charging, the quality of radio reception may degrade in some areas.

NOTE

To prevent charging cable theft, the charging connector cannot be disconnected from the inlet when the doors are locked or the charging connector is in the Always lock mode. Unlock all doors to disconnect the charging connector from the inlet.

However, if the vehicle is in the charging connector Lock while charging mode, the charging connector automatically unlocks from the inlet when charging is completed.

For more information, refer to Charging connector lock.

If the release button does not work even after the all doors are unlocked, pull the emergency lift cable in the motor room and press the release button in the connector to disconnect it from the vehicle. If the release button still does not work, visit an authorized Kia dealer.
