Order of Operation
The order of operation of the Remote Forward/Reverse function is as follows.
-
Remote Forward/Reverse warm-up
-
Remote Forward/Reverse
1. Remote Forward/Reverse warm-up
There are two methods to operate the Remote Forward/Reverse function.
Method (1). Using the function whilst the engine is off

-
The driver locks the doors of the vehicle by pressing the smart key's Door Lock「
」button within a certain range from the vehicle.
-
The driver starts the vehicle remotely by pressing the Door Lock button and then pressing and holding the Remote Start「
」button for about 4 seconds.
For more information on Remote Start, see More Details.
Method (2). Using the function whilst the engine is on

-
Align the vehicle in front of the space where the driver wants to use the Remote Forward/Reverse function and shift to P (Park).
-
When the driver presses and holds the Parking/View 「
」button, the Remote Smart Parking Assistant activates and the Remote Forward/Reverse function message is shown on the infotainment system display.
-
The driver exits the vehicle holding the smart key, closing all of the doors and the tailgate.
In order to use the Remote Forward/Reverse function, the driver must select "Agree" on the infotainment system display and the infotainment system must be operating normally.
2. Remote Forward/Reverse

-
The Remote Smart Parking Assist automatically controls the steering wheel, gear shifting and vehicle speed when the driver is pressing either the Forward 「
」 or Reverse 「
」button on the smart key. At this time, the vehicle moves in the same direction as the smart key's Forward or Reverse button.
-
If the driver takes their hand off the smart key's Forward/Reverse button in the middle of Remote Forward/Reverse function control, the vehicle stops and control temporarily stops. The Remote Smart Parking Assist resumes the Remote Forward/Reverse function when the driver presses the button again.
-
When the vehicle reaches the desired location, the driver takes their hand off the smart key's Forward or Reverse button.
-
When the driver gets in the vehicle holding the smart key, the Remote Smart Parking Assist displays the Remote Forward/Reverse function completion message on the infotainment system display. At this time, the vehicle's ignition remains on.
Also, if the driver presses the smart key's Ignition「
」button whilst outside the vehicle, the Remote Smart Parking Assist displays the Remote Forward/Reverse function completion message on the infotainment system display, and the vehicle's ignition turns off.
-
When operating the Remote Forward/Reverse function, all smart keys must be outside of the vehicle.
-
The Remote Forward/Reverse function is only controlled when the driver operates the smart key within a range of about 4 m (13 ft) from the vehicle. If the vehicle does not move even when the smart key's Forward or Reverse button is being pressed, check the distance to the vehicle and press the smart key's Forward or Reverse button again.
-
The smart key's sensing distance may vary depending on the surrounding environment (areas with strong electromagnetic waves such as power transmission towers, broadcasting stations, etc.).
-
When moving forward remotely using method (1), the vehicle is judged to be exiting a parking space and the steering wheel is controlled based on the situation in front of the vehicle after identifying the surroundings for people, animals, or objects (moving about 4 m (13 ft)).
-
When moving forward remotely using method (2), the vehicle is judged to be parking and the steering wheel is controlled based on the situation in front of the vehicle to assist in entering the parking space and aligning the vehicle.
-
For remote reversing, both methods (1) and (2) align the steering wheel and the vehicle moves in a straight line only.
-
When the Remote Forward/Reverse function is completed, it automatically shifts to P (Park) and engages the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).

-
Make sure that all occupants in the vehicle have exited before using the Remote Forward/Reverse function.
-
The Remote Forward/Reverse function is unable to operate if the vehicle enters a narrow space and the battery dies or the Remote Smart Parking Assist malfunctions, so the driver should park in a space where it is possible to get into the vehicle.
-
Please note that depending on the parking space, you may not be able to use the Remote Forward/Reverse to exit a space that you entered using the Remote Forward/Reverse function.
-
After parking, the parking environment may change due to the movement of surrounding vehicles, and you may not be able to move using the Remote Forward/Reverse function.
-
After stopping and releasing the Remote Forward/Reverse function, and before exiting the vehicle, close the windows, sunroof, etc., and then check that the vehicle's ignition is off before locking the doors.
