Coasting
When a deceleration event is predicted by analyzing the navigation path and road information, the driver is notified when to release the accelerator pedal. A single notification sound and a cluster indicator inform the driver, helping to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and minimize brake use.
Coasting setting
-
Select from the infotainment system.
-
When coasting is turned on and the operating conditions are met, the Coasting message appears on the instrument cluster. Coasting starts when the accelerator pedal is released after being engaged.
Coasting operating conditions
The Coasting function operates under the following conditions:
-
A destination is set in the navigation system.
-
ECO mode is selected for DRIVE MODE.
-
ECO or SMART is selected for Powertrain in the MY DRIVE MODE menu from the infotainment system.
If SMART mode is selected, driver acceleration must be mild.
-
The vehicle is in D (Drive).
-
Smart Cruise Control (SCC) is off.
-
Neither the accelerator pedal nor the brake pedal is engaged.
-
Vehicle speed is between 20–100 mph (30–160 km/h).
-
Coasting operation may be affected by tire size and tire pressure.
-
Coasting is not designed to operate perfectly in every condition.
-
Depending on driving conditions (road slope, distance, etc.), Coasting may not activate even if the above conditions are met.
Deceleration events include:
-
Change of direction (right/left/U-turn)
-
Roundabout
-
Highway entrance/exit
