If an accident occurs
-
For your safety, do not touch the high voltage cables, connectors, or package modules. High voltage wiring and connectors are orange.
-
Exposed cables or wires might be visible inside or outside of the vehicle. Never touch the wires or cables, as electric shock, injury, or death may occur.
-
Any gas or electrolyte leakage from the vehicle is not only poisonous but flammable. If you see gas or electrolyte leakage, open the windows then keep a safe distance from the vehicle.
Immediately contact emergency services or an authorized Kia dealer and advise them that a hybrid vehicle is involved.
-
If the vehicle is severely damaged, maintain a safe distance of 50 feet (15 meters) or more between your vehicle and other vehicles or flammable objects.
If a fire occurs:
-
If a small scale fire occurs, use a fire extinguisher intended for electrical fires (ABC, BC).
-
If extinguishing the fire in its early stage is impossible, keep a safe distance from the vehicle and immediately call your local fire department. Be sure to advise them that a hybrid vehicle is involved.
-
If the fire spreads to the high voltage battery, a large amount of water will be needed to extinguish the fire.
-
Using a small amount of water or a fire extinguisher not intended for electrical fires could cause serious injury or death from an electric shock.
-
If you see any sparks, gases, flames, or fuel leakage coming from the vehicle, immediately contact emergency services or an authorized Kia dealer. Always advise them that a hybrid vehicle is involved.
If your vehicle submerges in or floods with water, the high voltage battery might cause electric shock or fires. Turn the hybrid system OFF, take the key, and escape to a safe place. Never attempt to touch a flooded vehicle. Immediately contact an authorized Kia dealer and advise them that a hybrid vehicle is involved.
