RCCA malfunction and limitations
RCCA malfunction

When RCCA is not working properly, the warning message will appear for several seconds and the
warning light will appear on the instrument cluster. Have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

When the warning light on the side view mirror (outside mirror) is not working properly, the warning message will appear for
several seconds and the
warning light will appear on the instrument cluster. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
RCCA disabled

When the rear bumper around the rear corner radar or sensor is covered with foreign matters, such as snow or rain, or installing a trailer or carrier, it can reduce the detecting performance and temporarily limit or disable RCCA.
The warning message will appear on the instrument cluster. It is not a malfunction.
RCCA will operate properly when such foreign matters or trailer, etc. is removed.
Always keep the rear view camera and rear ultrasonic sensors clean.
If RCCA does not operate normally after it is removed, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

RCCA may not properly operate in an area (for example, open terrain), where any objects are not detected after turning ON the engine.

Even though the warning message does not appear on the instrument cluster, RCCA may not properly operate.

Turn off RCCA to install a trailer, carrier, etc., and remove the trailer, carrier, etc. to use RCCA.
Limitations of RCCA
RCCA may not operate properly or it may operate unexpectedly under the following circumstances:
-
Departing from where trees or grass is overgrown
-
Departing from roads that are wet
-
Speed of an approaching vehicle is fast or slow
Braking control may not work in the following circumstances:
-
Your vehicle severely vibrates while driving over a bumpy road, uneven road or concrete patch
-
Driving on a slippery surface due to snow, water puddle, ice, etc.
-
The tire pressure is low or a tire is damaged

For more details on the limitations of the rear corner radar, refer to More Details.

-
Driving near a vehicle or structure

[A]: Structure
RCCA may be limited when driving near a vehicle or structure, and may not detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. RCCA may not warn you or control the brakes when necessary.
Always check your surroundings while backing up.
-
When the vehicle is in a complex parking environment

RCCA may detect vehicles which are parking or pulling out near your vehicle (for example, a vehicle leaving beside your vehicle, a vehicle parking or pulling out in the rear area, a vehicle approaching your vehicle making a turn, etc.). RCCA may unnecessarily warn you and control the brake.
