SEW malfunction and limitations
SEW malfunction

When SEW is not working properly, the warning message will appear on the cluster, and the master warning light (
) will appear on the cluster. Have SEW be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

When the outside rear view mirror warning light is not working properly, the warning message will appear on the cluster for
several seconds, and the master warning light (
) will appear on the instrument cluster. Have SEW be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
SEW disabled

When the rear bumper around the rear-side radar or sensor is covered with foreign matters, such as snow or rain, or installing a trailer or carrier, it can reduce the detecting performance and temporarily limit or disable SEW.
If this occurs, the 'Blind-Spot Safety system disabled. Radar blocked' warning message will appear on the instrument cluster.
SEW will operate normally when such foreign matters or trailer, etc. is removed, and then your vehicle is restarted.
If SEW does not operate normally after it is removed, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

-
Even though the warning message does not appear on the cluster, SEW may not properly operate.
-
SEW may not properly operate in an area (e.g., open terrain), where any substance is not detected right after the vehicle is turned on, or when the detecting sensor is blocked with foreign material right after the vehicle is turned on.

Turn off SEW to install a trailer, carrier, etc., or remove the trailer, carrier, etc. to use Safe Exit Warning.
