* 1. Engine oil and engine oil filter : As it is normal for engine oil to be consumed during driving, the engine oil level should be checked on regular basis. The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on the use of the recommended engine specification. If the recommended engine oil specification is not used, then replace the engine oil according to the maintenance schedule under severe operating conditions.

* 2. Rear differential oil (4WD) : If the vehicle has been submerged in water or in a flooded area, the fluids should be changed as a precaution.

* 3. Transfer case oil (4WD) : If the vehicle has been submerged in water or in a flooded area, the fluids should be changed as a precaution.

* 4. Drive belts (Engine) : Inspect alternator, water pump and air conditioner drive belt and if necessary, repair or replace. Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary correct or replace.

  • Fuel filter (gasoline engine): The fuel filter is considered to be maintenance free but periodic inspection is recommended for this maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality.

    • If there are some important safety matters like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem etc, replace the fuel filter immediately regardless of maintenance schedule and consult an authorized Kia dealer for details.

* 1. Fuel additives : Kia recommends that you use Tier 1 unleaded gasoline fuel having a pump octane number ((R+M)/2) of 87 (Research Octane Number 91) or higher. For customers who do not use good quality gasolines including fuel additives regularly, and have problems starting or the engine does not run smoothly, one bottle of additives should be added to the fuel tank at every 10,000 km (6,000 miles). Additives are available from an authorized Kia dealer. Do not mix with other additives.

* 5. Drive belts (Engine) : Inspect alternator, water pump and air conditioner drive belt and if necessary, repair or replace. Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary correct or replace.

* 6: Valve clearance : Inspect for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary. Have an authorized Kia dealer perform the operation
